I’ve got some exciting news.
In the past weeks, I’ve spoken of the need to “fiercely love understanding,” as Augustine says; and most recently, what it means to be a Thomist—namely, to follow Thomas and his authorities as one engages the intellectual task.
I’m thrilled to say that I’m rolling out two ways which you can do all this—in fact, how we can do it together. I’m now offering a weekly Thomas Aquinas reading group, as well as availability for tutoring tailored according to your needs.
Reading Thomas Together
The reading group is, quite simply, “ite ad Thomam,” go to Thomas and study his texts. At the start here, we will be working through the questions of his Summa (beginning with the first), and actively wade through them together in a sort of perpetual-commentary style. I will lead us line by line, and we’ll go as deep as you want to go!
The format for this uses Calendly, and the cost will be $10 per session. That gets you an hour with me, every Saturday morning (starting Sept 20). Sign-up is on a week-by-week basis, so you can drop in and drop out accordingly. Click here for the link. (FYI, you will have to sign-up on a week-by-week basis, for the meeting link.)
Offering this is an experiment—a carefully thought-out one, but still an experiment. Depending on who joins and etc., there could eventually be some flexibility (e.g., meeting times; what we are reading; etc). I’m hoping we can get a good enough group together to make this worthwhile!, so share it with your friends.
Tutoring and Special Meetings
Besides this reading group, I’m also making myself available for specialized tutoring sessions, either recurrently or more ad hoc. The format here uses Bookme.com, and you can click here for the link!
This gives you the chance to work through topics or texts which are tailored more to your needs. “Quaestiones ordinariae” or more regular tutoring will enable us to work through things together and for you to grow over time. Whereas “quodlibetum” is for more one-off questions, or if you just want to pick my brain!
Please take advantage of both these opportunities, and share them with others. They are not only ways how I’m trying to serve all of you, but also ways how I’m trying to support my family as a mendicant teacher.
God bless!
